Few directors shot with the precision and economy that could dictate and control the final shape of their material. Many films are invented during editing. In American . cinema especially, editors have major responsibilities for executing the cutting style of the & studio, and some important editorial names are attached & to their respective companies: Viola Lawrence at Columbia, George Amy at Warner Brothers.
